A conference for Christians working with refugees and asylum seekers in Wales

Hosted by Tredegarville Baptist Church on behalf of Cardiff Gweini

Topics to be covered include* -

 

  • What are the challenges facing churches in their work with refugees & asylum seekers?
  • What are other churches doing in Cardiff (we may not be able to cover Swansea , Newport , Wrexham unfortunately)
  • What projects should my church consider doing?
  • What are some of the ethical/moral questions facing Christians?
  • How do I engage politicians in Wales and Westminster ?
  • How much should Christians work with outside agencies? How overt should our Christianity be?
  • What about failed asylum seekers? What happens when leave to remain is granted?
  • An overview of the law relating to the process refugees go through
  • State support for refugees & entitlement to health and education? Work issues?
  • Emotional trauma and support for refugees.
  • What organisations like the Welsh Refugee Council do and don't do.

Time*: 10.00 - 16.00

Cost: There will be a £5 charge payable to Tredegarville Baptist Church on the door to cover costs.

We have some free places available for low wage earners and the unemployed, so please contact me on the email below if you fit either of these categories

Teas and coffees will be served but delegates are asked to bring their own lunch

There are a number of shops nearby that sell a range of snacks and sandwiches etc.
